There are few gardens in Barcelona’s city centre where you can settle down and have a good read in the middle of the afternoon. Normally people go on a pilgrimage to the sacred Barcelonetta to get away from inner city life, only to find it and everyone else has followed them there.

El Jardi however is a serene calling in the middle of the ever hectic Raval, especially when the weather is hot. Slip away through the easily missable opening on C/Hospital and free yourself from the strains of the busy streets. Join many students learning languages and catching up on their reading, as they take a coffee or sip on an ice cold beer. Sandwiches and light bites are also on offer, so instead of a siesta during the afternoon, relax, have a bite and enjoy.
