Interpol is one of the bands associated with the New York City indie music scene, and was one of several groups that emerged out of the post-punk revival of the 2000s. Most people have heard the music of Yann Tiersen through classic French Noir movie Amelie. Playing everything from classical French instruments, the accordion, harpsichord, vibraphone to the obscure bicycle wheel, Tiersen’s connection with everyone’s favorite glimpse of  a life in France in unmistakable.

His music have often been compared to Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Erik Satie and to the minimalism of Philip Glass for his experimentation. Known primeraly for his connection to the piano, Tiersen can also be found fondling the electric guitar, which is notably visible in his recent tours.

It’s been 11 years since the founding of the San Francisco band, who return with a new vision, new style and  an uncertain future … but that is what they call rock and roll, isn’t it?. Their new album sounds like everything and anything: a map of American music that crosses and take you home to Chattanooga road clubs in Texas through proto-punk screeching kittens in New York. It sounds like BRMC’s music, folk touches of dark, distorted bass fuzz, depressing ballads, lyrics of redemption and hurtful sex. Undoubtedly one of the best and most progressive rock and roll bands of the last decade with one of the best live performances we can remember.
