The Fundacio Joan Miró is an established museum of modern art which pays homage to one of the world’s leading figures of mid-twentieth century art. Designed by architect Josep Lluís Sert, who managed to successfully create a notable building of modern aptness, position up high amidst the green tranquillity of Montjuic.
Wade through the scattering of artists sitting out on the lawn, reading and admiring the views from up high, and enter the airy, wide open space, compromising of big white terraces and sights. The Miró collection compromises over 14,000 pieces, about 10,000 of which can be displayed at any one time in the gallery. With an anthology made up of paintings, ceramics, sculptures and drawings, many of which contain his trademark of bird, women and stars, it’s defiantly worth taking a cultural break on your afternoon stroll whether to admire his work, or admire the view.
