Perched up in the first storey of a rather anonymous looking private block, on an altogether mundane stretch of Arago, sits the Fundacion Alorda-Derksen.  A small but wonderfully devised space, peaceful, intimate and crammed with a diverse ensemble of sculpture, painting and collage from the past 50 years.  The private collection which makes up two-thirds of the current exhibition (exhibitions change about once a year or so) is headed by Manuel Alorda and Hanneke Derksen, whose eye for quality, and enthusiasm for the bold and provocative is the key to the foundation’s success.  Highlights include recent works by Damien Hirst, Tracy Emin, Tom Friedman and the very exciting German artist Anselm Kiefer.
