Yet another market to have been touched by the city’s grand modernisation scheme, Mercat Sant Gervasi makes a startling visual impact.  The peculiar market seems to have pulled the short straw in terms of design, looking more like a portable site office than a functioning marketplace.  Raised up a couple of feet to accommodate a sunken car park underneath, the giant, garish caravan certainly turns a head or two.

Rest assured though, inside the compact little market the full range of fresh produce is to be found retailed at local prices by local people.  Dried meats and smoked cheeses are amongst the delights to be enjoyed at this important new pillar of the Sant Gervasi community.
