MNAC is housed in the Palau National, a national landmark which dates back to 1929. Situated up high on the outskirts of Montjuic, the gallery is one of the many reasons to pay a visit to the small mountain which resides in the city. Boasting spectacular views across the city; a grand old gesture from the outside alone, try not to spend too much time gawking at the mind-blowing sights, there’s art to see.
Home of Cataluña’s biggest art collection, MNAC has the tireless task of putting together and explaining the general history of Catalan art from the Romanesque period to the mid-twentieth century. Works include paintings by El Greco, Zurbarán, Velázquez and Cranach in the form of paintings, photography, drawings and prints.
